" Sado tsuba Exile - Sado Sanzaemon
"Snow Flowers Returning Wild Geese" Iron base, irregular shape, forged iron tsuba. The inscription "Sanzaemon" is not included in the inscription catalog, but the exile Sanzaemon is known in Sado. Also, Sanzaemon's associate, Yoshifuru, made a forged tsuba with a strong, undulating forged surface similar to this tsuba, so we have posted a picture for reference. Details such as whether Sanzaemon is the same person as Sanzaemon (Yoshifuru) or if there is some connection are unknown at this time." (Haynes & Long) 7.42cm x 7.51cm x 0.73cm (face) |
