'SASHU JU TOSHISADA'
|
Provenance: Robert E. Haynes Elliott D. Long |
NFS |
"Known as 'tsukurikomi' the well defined carving on a nicely forged iron displays a lot of energy. The petals are carved one by one with deep shadows. The design of the chrysanthemum flower is different in that the petals fold back from the back side and the most prominent part is the front. The petals in full bloom are arranged in the lower front side and upper back side. This is the work of 'TOSHISADA'. One of three masters of Sado tsuba metalwork." (Haynes & Long) |
