"Two katsushirome plate menuki from the same mold. This is the first menuki that have been recorded that show the same mold marks, very rare indeed. The backs show even walls that are well formed, but have not been filed. The pins are original to the plates. These menuki seem to date from the early Muromachi period, and are very important study pieces." (Haynes)
