Basic Shape:

Many shapes were used but the most common were round, oval, nadekaku, and hachi kakugata (octagonal shape).

Plate Metal:

Most are of iron, but also shakudo, suaka, oborogin, and guri plate were used.

Design Characteristics:

Both bold relief and ubuzukashi are used. Inlay of hira-zogan, nunome zogan, iroe zogan, and horikomi zogan. A few of the inlay inventions are thought to be of Denbei's.
