'YAMASHIRO KUNI KANEIYE'
|
Provenance: Robert E. Haynes Elliott Long |
NFS |
"This is a tsuba with a hammered iron surface with a wave pattern, inscribed "Kaneiye, Yamashiro Province", with hair engraving, ubu, brass dot inlay, small square rim. It is an old tsuba with a stately style. The exact era is unknown, but it is thought to be quite old, dating ca.1500 or earlier. The inscription is by Kaneiye, a master craftsman on par with Nobuie. The tone is very high quality and the condition is good. There is minimal missing inlay." (Long) 8.08cm x 8.03cm x 0.34-40cm |
