HOAN

Provenance: Steve Waszak, Elliott D. Long | NFS |
"This is a Hoan guard papered by the NBTHK to “Hoan.” No “Kodai” and no “den.” There is a very similar tsuba also attributed to Hoan in Nakamura’s “Tsuba Shusei” (page 493). The motif is the Taise Tsuho coin, which I believe represents some sort of talismanic/good luck object or symbol. Accompanied with NBTHK 'Hozon' origami. Circa: Late Muromachi - Early Edo Period - 1500's -1600's." (Long) |
