"Hinode Tsuruzu Tsuba Tsukuba Undoko Uchiji". "It is the Hinode Tsuru figure tsuba that was identified as Goto Den, though it was unnamed. The workmanship is classified as mokko shape shakudo with fine nanako ground and takabori with iroe ornamentations resembling that of Goto Jujo. The carvings as the iroe are very delicate and result in a finely detailed and elegant style. This tsuba shows a very peaceful setting by a creek with vegetation, shoreline rocks and two cranes frolicking under a sun amongst the clouds. The way of the composition, the solid and reliable technique of carving, the positioning of the gold and shakudo ornamentations - all of them are very conscientiously and accurately executed." (Long) Accompanied with NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho origami with Hosokawa stamp dated 1966. |
