A largely squared circular (okaku maru) iron plate that is well forged. The surface center (at seppa-dai) of both sides is depressed and known as 'nakakubo gata'. The well hammered surface of both sides displays both cherry blossoms (sakura) with stems and stamped snow flakes. The stems are inlayed with gold as are the tips of the blossoms. All inlay is present.


Mei reads: 'YAMASHIRO KUNI JU UMETADA SHIGEYOSHI'. Reference Haynes H 08548.0 to H 08558.0. Which Shigeyoshi this is, we do not know.
