"Large squared circular (okaku maru) iron plate with design of peony flower and bud on mokko shape ground. Reverse with butterfly design on mokko shape ground. Both designs lap over on to the base plate. All inlay is intact. The mokko-shape represents a large seppa used on tachi-style tsubas. The corners are shown with inome. A very well made and designed piece. Signed: 'Umetada Shichizaemon Tachibana Shigeyoshi'. Ref. Haynes H 08573.0. Took the Umetada school from Kyoto to Edo."
