Return to Tosogu

Provenance:   Elliott Long NFS
"Genuine well-worn kozuka, with shakudo nanako ground (fish roe) base metal with solid crab design and pattern inlay with Gold lining, high carved inlay color painting.

ENJO MITSUTAKA:
The eldest son of the 12th Head of the Goto Family, Jujo Mitsutada, he was born in 1722. In 1722, his father Mitsutada passed away, so Enjo Mitsutaka changed his name to Shirobei Mitsutaka and succeeded the 13th Head of the Family, taking the name Shirobei and the name Mitsutaka. He was the second longest serving head of the family after the 10th Renjo. Mitsutaka's style adhered to the traditions of the Goto family, and many of his works were inherited techniques. In any case, this is a masterpiece." (E. Long)
