"He was the first son of the first Masayoshi (H 04887) and student of Koretsune, the first Masatsune (H 04751). He took the kore kanji from Koretsune and the yoshi kanji from his father, Masayoshi, to form his art name. At first he was influenced by his father in his work and later by his cousin, Yoshitaka (H 12141), in his work. In his later life, ca. 1887, he was using the name Masayoshi, and this work must be distinguished from that of his father with the same signature." |
